Cyclowax Pro Rider Update February 2024

Our first ever pro rider update starts with a long one.

We’re proud to support so many riders across different disciplines this year that we will give you a monthly update about these riders, their results, and anything that has happened in between!

Project Echelon

Let’s start with Project Echelon the UCI Continental Team which is based in the United States.

They just wrapped up their initial block of European races in Mallorca, Valenciana, and Tour de la Provence, achieving great success with 6 top 10 finishes out of 13 race days overall.

We joined them during Tour de la Provence to get feedback from the riders and mechanics so we can further improve our products. During the second and third stage it was raining constantly, and the riders had some really hard days. Luckily they all survived pretty well with a 4th spot for Tyler Stites in Stage 2 sprinting against Mads Pedersen.

If you want to learn more about racing in Europe for a small American team, read all the articles written by Sam Boardman here. More on that next month!

Oh, and Brendan Rhim just snatched the overall win in the Tucson Bicycle Classic before the team trainings camp.

Racing hasn't started yet, right?

Although it's only February, there's already been significant racing activity. While triathletes have been training a lot, track riders are gearing up for the National League.

But that can’t be said from our gravel races.

Maddy Nutt, one of the female riders we support, already has been doing some racing in Australia in January and now lined up for Santa Vall in Girona. Which now has been dubbed the opening classic for Gravel racing, just a week prior to the road classic openers, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.

Unfortunately, Maddy encountered a setback at the start of the European season, crashing out during the second stage of the race. If you want to see how that happened, please watch the YouTube video here. (Warning, there might be some blood)

On the men's side, both Petr Vakoč and Douwe Doorduin performed great, with Vakoč securing the overall victory after triumphing in the prologue, and Doorduin finishing 33rd overall in his season debut.

Santa Vall, Team Last Dance

Stefano Barberi finished 2nd at Rock Cobbler one of the opener gravel races in the US.

And there were also some other Cyclowax riders, but they will be announced soon!

We’re all really looking forward to this year, with lots of riders, new teams and exciting projects following soon.

Also, there have been some riders in the world tour peloton using Cyclowax waxed chains, but we can’t tell you anything about it yet.

Stay clean, keep on riding!
